CREATE A WEB PAGE OR POST

This page explains how to create a web page or post from scratch or duplicate an existing one.

REMINDERS

DUPLICATING an existing page or post is sometimes fastest

QUICK INFO

Usually you want to create a post rather than a webpage.

When duplicating or cloning a page, you MUST make sure you are editing the copy and not the original page. Check the timestamp to be sure.

DUPLICATE A PAGE

How to Duplicate a Page:

  1. Go to the page you want to duplicate
  2. In the admin header at the top, choose "Duplicate Post" > "Copy to a new draft"
  3. You will be taken to the "Edit Post" page
  4. YOU MUST change the name. Otherwise, the name will look the same, and you might end up editing the original page.
  5. Edit the "Meta info" - see details below
  6. Choose publish when you are ready, or "save" if you are not ready
  7. To actually change the page content, click the purple button "Edit with the Divi builder"

How to clone a page:

*Slightly different but does the same thing as above:

  1. Go to your website's admin dashboard
  2. Go to "Posts" or "Pages" from the left menu
  3. Search for the post or page you want to clone
  4. Hover over the page and click "Clone"
  5. Look for the clone. NOTE it will have the same title, so you must be careful NOT to edit the original. You can see which one you just created by looking at the date column at the far right. Find the one that has the timestamp from when you clicked "clone"
  6. YOU MUST change the name. Otherwise, the name will look the same, and you might end up editing the original page.
  7. Click "Edit" and you will be taken to the "Edit Post" page
